This is the legendary "12 1/2", first designed and built by N.G Herreshoff in 1914. Nathanael Greene Herreshoff I (1848 – 1938), was an American naval architect-mechanical engineer, who revolutionized yacht design, and produced a succession of undefeated America's Cup defenders between 1893-1920.
This particular vessel is the 5l2th of the 530 12 1/2's that were built by Edey & Duff between 1973 and 2010. Bill Harding took the lines ftom some of the original wooden boats, lofted the plans, built the plugs and molds and contracted with Edey & Duff to build what is now called the Doughdish, which is as precise as possible a fiberglass version of the Herreshoff 12 1/2.
